General rule of thumb on caring for your tongue piercings - Keep the area clean and allow the body to heal around the tongue piercing. Rinse your mouth with antibacterial mouthwash (choose one that does not have alcohol in it) or salt water twice daily and ensure the ends of tongue piercings are tight -you don't want it to slip off and risk swallowing it or damaging your teeth .
